my story
Welcome to PEACE ED! Over nearly fourteen years, I’ve had the honor of serving students and families in Ohio, Georgia, and California as a school psychologist and licensed educational psychologist. PEACE ED represents my vision for child-centered, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming educational spaces. Whether you are interested in partnering with me for my presentation, evaluation, advocacy, or counseling services, my ultimate goal is to empower students and the adults entrusted with their care. Rest assured, I am committed to embodying and uplifting the words of Dr. Charles A. Barrett, "It's always about the children."

Services
P
resentations
Preparing and delivering topic-specific, engaging, and research-based seminars, discussions, or assemblies crafted to meet the audience's unique needs. Attendees or educational institutions can access the presentation slides and resource/reference lists after the event.
E
valuations
A systematic approach to gathering information about a child’s holistic functioning and needs. This set of procedures typically includes reviewing a child’s records, interviewing key stakeholders, observing the child in different contexts, and completing direct and indirect testing in line with referral questions established at the evaluation’s onset. Data from these sources is synthesized, presented in a written report, and explained during a feedback session.
A
dvocacy
Direct support of families for educational processes such as public school special education meetings, public school Section 504 meetings, public or private school collaborative problem-solving meetings, and private school admissions or accommodations meetings. I will leverage my knowledge of your concerns, shared goals, and applicable legal and ethical standards to help your family seek desired educational outcomes.
C
ounseling
An ongoing, solutions-focused, collaborative, and confidential experience that endeavors to build lagging skills and identify and address unsolved problems. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a specific approach I utilize to help children explore the connection between their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Ultimately, counseling can promote self-awareness, personal growth, and holistic wellness.
E
mpowerment
Broadly defined “coaching” services aim to equip children and families to be confident and effective in various contexts and settings. This approach might be best for families outside of California or those wishing to take a more hands-on approach to seeking desired educational outcomes.
FAQs
Q1: What is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)?
Q2: How can families access free evaluations?
Q3: How much do your services cost?
Q4: What geographical areas do you cover?
Q5: Do you complete (dyslexia, ADHD, etc.) “screeners”?
A1: California’s Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) authorizes LEPs to perform various professional functions related to academic learning processes and the educational system. LEPs must possess specific qualifications related to training and experience, pass a written examination, meet continuing education requirements, and adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards.
A2: The Child Find component of federal law requires all public school districts to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities. To this end, families are entitled to a comprehensive evaluation from their local school district free of charge, even if their children are educated at home or within private or parochial school settings. This template provides helpful language for making a written request in California. Furthermore, families are welcome to choose PEACE ED as an independent educational evaluation (IEE) provider if they desire a second opinion or are dissatisfied with any aspect of the school district’s evaluation after receiving their report.
A3: PEACE ED works with families, their children, and educational entities. Our fee schedule details the costs associated with common services. However, please contact me to inquire about additional services and partnership opportunities.
A4: PEACE ED primarily conducts in-person testing, counseling, and meetings in the Santa Clarita Valley. However, accommodations can be made to provide in-person services to families that live outside of this area. Please reach out to discuss your specific situation. Additionally, many services can be delivered remotely, removing proximity barriers.
A5: PEACE ED does not provide diagnosis-specific “screeners.” Comprehensive evaluations are best suited for answering referral questions related to dyslexia, ADHD, etc., identifying or ruling out alternative explanations, avoiding confirmation bias, and understanding a child’s holistic needs.
